GrantsPlus client Rosies Youth Mission can now distribute Backpack Beds to homeless people in south-east Queensland, thanks to the Energex Community and Sustainability Fund.
In any one night in Queensland there are around 20,000 people who are homeless and many of these are children.
Backpack beds provide displaced persons & families with a sense of dignity, belonging and hope, even when they may not have a fixed place to call their own. These portable, water-proof and flame-resistant beds can help to make a significant difference to the health and wellbeing of a homeless person or family.
Rosies –‘Friends on the Street’ is a not for profit organisation which provides unconditional acceptance and friendship to people who are marginalised within our community – especially people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.
In a spirit of friendship, Rosies provides support and material aid in times of crisis, meeting the immediate basic needs of people needing emergency relief such as food parcels, clothing, bedding, household items, and vouchers.
