As part of National Volunteer Week in May, the Redlands SES Unit & RESVA had the official hand over of some new equipment including the new Community Education Trailer (pictured), funded by the Gambling Community Benefit Fund.
The night was also the Official Recognition of the new Redland City Emergency Services Cadet Unit (Redlands ESC). The Redlands ESC is supported by PCYC QLD and Redlands SES and received a kick-start with a project grant from Redland City Council, to support participation for Redland youth in education and training activities that support volunteering.
The handover was well attended by volunteers, their families and many community representatives and the new Cadets looked spectacular kitted out in their uniforms. Exciting days ahead for youth in Redlands.
The Redland ESC Unit will operate programs on the Redland City Mainland, North Stradbroke Island and the Southern Moreton Bay Islands at the Redland City SES Units Facilities.
Redlands ES Cadets will develop their leadership potential, learn a diverse range of emergency service skills and will be encouraged to explore ongoing pathways into volunteering or emergency services careers to build the next generation of emergency services volunteers.
