Beware of Shonky Grant Companies

money 1090815 1280It's a competitive market for funding, but it's important to deal with people and organisations you know you can trust.

The ACCC recently issued a warning about a website charging clients for access to government grants that don't exist, or that are poorly matched. The Australian Business Funding Centre (aka Australian Business Financing Centre) has been the source of 100 complaints in just two years.

We've recieved a number of enquiries in the past asking our opinion about providers such as this. Our answer has always been the same - steer clear!

Community Education Trailer for RESVA

RESVA trailer 2016

Redlands Volunteer Emergency Service Association (RESVA) received over $31,000 for custom built Community Education Trailer in Round 85 of the Gambling Community Benefit Fund.  The trailer will benefit a range of Emergency Services organisations in Redlands including four State Emergency Services Groups and five Rural Fire Units.

The trailer will also double as a mobile support station for Emergency Services volunteers and Council Disaster Management teams during natural disasters in Redlands.

The Community Education Trailer will support volunteers engaging with community groups, residents, businesses and schools to deliver public education and awareness raising activities.  The Volunteer Community Education Service ran over 50 public education activities in 2014-15.

Promoting Women in Sport - Judo QLD

JFAQ QIO 2015It was great to attend Judo Queensland's 2015 International Open event in Ormiston last year.  The event attracted 367 competitors from all over Queensland and Australia as well as international competitors from Japan, New Zealand and several other countries. Doesn't the new floor look great, thanks to their GCBF grant.

Judo QLD is also nurturing the leadership capabilities and capacity of talented women players through their successful Women Leaders in Sport Grant from the Australian Sports Commission.

This grant will allow JFAQ to nurture female leaders in governance, coaching, officiating and administration to grow female participation and to provide more more visible, positive female role models for young women in Judo.
